New Players

Are you attending Mount Royal University? We look forward to meeting you! The MRU Men's Rugby Club welcomes new players each year that have a wide range of rugby experience, including players who have never played rugby before.  

Our practices and season is structured to provide opportunities for brand new players to learn and play the game, and for experienced players to hone their skills and compete for a spot on our first team that plays in the Prairies University Men's Rugby Championship (PUMRC).

Steps to play for MRU:

• Come to practice!

• Join our two communication apps. You can get the details at practice or email us:

  • Team management App SPOND (App Store, Google Play)

  • What's App group (App Store, Google Play)

• Register through MRU Rec ePlay (CLICK HERE) and pay the fee. 

  • Please note Men's Rugby Club registration will not open until early September. 

When do practices start?

Our pre-season practices take place the last week of August and first week of September - for the most up to date information, visit our social media pages:

We welcome new players at any point during the season. 

When and where do you practice?

The club practices on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30PM to 7:00PM at MRU Field 4 (MAP) from the end of August to the end of October.
